If only G3 would have the same marketing as Guild Wars

Check out this new movie from guildwars (Cinematic Trailer).

Download it here

Holy ****, imagine what Gothic 3 would become if they had a publisher like this one and all the marketing they gave to Guild Wars.

I´m not that impressed by the trailer. It´s obviously a LotR rip-off. While everything is nicely detailed and some slow-mo effects are pretty good I don´t like the habid to have many quick cuts. This is a means fashionable in Hollywood in the last few years. The quick cuts suggest there´s a lot of action - but if you have a closer look you see that they always move somewhere else before a sword enters a body, for example. They don´t actually show anything.

In short: it´s technically excellent but it has weak content.

And who said that it should have content to sell?? The Sims is selling marvelous and does that have content?

Nowadays every rpg is a LotR rip-off, because LotR had every rpg-element in it. That's something that is almost unavoidable.
And in LotR the threat rises from the east, while in this movie it rises from the west. Big difference.

I've seen a lot of trailers and most of them aren't as licked (don't know if that is a known english expression) as this one. In my opinion better a nice, fancy looking trailer with no content than some awful little movie with a story.
And I must say that it looks better than the animation movies you see in the theaters today.

To me the eye candy trailers are pointless. I want to see IN GAME footage and not a bunch of hollywood fluff.

I hear that. Agreed.

I still wanted to see the vid though so thanks Sem.

I still haven't seen any of the LOTRs. I own it, just haven't had the desire yet.

even if it is cheap holywood stuff it can be very effective, if only to make people familiar with the name. Bad advertisement is better then none
I never heard someone say it might be a good game but I don't buy it because of the dumb movie or something.

I play Guildwars and its a great game, but i never heared of it before a friend tells me hes playing it and i should also buy it. If Gothic3 will be a amazing game, they dont need a big marketing. If a friend tells you, that this game is awesome its the best marketing for the game, and by the way it doesnt cost for the publiser

Hi MSG welcome,

You're probably from WoG. I recognise your sig, but on this board there are quite some restrictions to signatures, including size.
The maximum size is 3600 pixels. In other words, yours is way too big. Please change it.

I must say that the marketing is already better than with G2, a pre-E3 teaser trailer that looks very good, etc.

BUT... I have not seen the pre-E3 teaser spread very much... or much at all.
