Wait until your paying $15 a month with this "dues" for your guild....now are your parents going to pay $30 a month, and listen to you yell at the screen because of more bugs that came from the last patch. Look at UO not even the game it was in 1995. Tottally different. Look at EQ so many programs out there that a newbie doesn't stand a chance. WWII Online...terrible launch...tough to come back from ain't it. Only one stands out as a great launch...patches that enhance gameplay but the way the game is played hasn't changed at all. No cheat programs available. No "dues" and a PvP system that keeps those interested happy....DAoC. Games like Horizons and DarkFall and Dragon Empires are interesting because we havn't had to suffer with them yet...Will you still play after crashes and greifer and changes to the game that you don't like? Have fun...

For some reason the word "bitter" is flashing through my mind right now. I can't imagine why.

I am calm. I was just calmly dismissive to that poster's obviously biased viewpoint. But yeah, i guess they are entitled to their opinion, so i guess i should say, go ahead and post what you want, but if its overly critical and negative, expect negative reactions from the people who actually enjoyed a few of these games. I can see where you're coming from though. I was pissed at Funcom for Anarchy Offline, and i was bitterly disappointed with Asherons Call 2. However, not all of these mmorpg games fall into the category of "sucketh big-time." I had a ton of fun with DAOC and Asherons Call, but to me the rest are crap, mainly because i didnt get into them very well -- they just didnt click with me. But you cant throw all of them into the garbage just because a few of them sucked or didnt resonate with you. Undeniably, the genre could have started out better, but its a newborn and growing genre that had to go through initial growing pains, which unfortunately was a crappy time to be a fan. So, even though i understand you are a little bitter about it, doesnt mean you should give-up on the genre already. This is just the beginning.

EDIT -- also i hope i didnt offend you too much, so dont take my lack of tact very seriously, since i am talented at over-reaction, either that or i just am a tad too opinionated, take your pick, heh.

EDIT2 -- almost forgot: i have been griefed sometimes in game, mainly in Asherons Call, this rude person came up to me for no justifiable reason and started yelling profanity at me. of course i reported her and she was kicked out of the game. But that didnt ruin my fun, it just made me mad for a few minutes. Another time in AC some my stuff was stolen (namely good armor) by a well-known thief near Qalabar. Now that made me mad, but i didnt let that ruin my time in the game, either. Those were my only 2 instances of being griefed in Asherons Call, but i let them slide. AC was worth it because i made some good friends and got to practice mmorpg gameplay, and i had a blast during it. This same typifiable reiteration will happen to everyone eventually, and if it ruins the game for you then you LET IT ruin your game. Just dont let it get you down when that happens, go on and if possible get a little revenge on the jerk that did it to you. I did get justice once in-game and it was justifiable. What happened was i quit a guild after they were yelling at me, so i quit and immediately one of the guildies did a /tell to me and started saying some bad things. So what i did was i got ahold of the guild LEADER and explained what happened and that guy got kicked out of the guild. You see, players will give you as much justice as customer support will.

lol

Name one game where pvpers would have gotten their "way". There is non. Its always the carebears who are listened and pvp that gets the axe.

Yeah sorry I was backwards thinking...thats what I meant by players getting there way (carebear...I call em greifer) ruined AND changed UO.

Race list has been edited due to new information

Since there was some question about races, and how many there would be, I just thought I’d check back with the thread. I’ve read three different interviews in the last week or two that state that there will be nine races upon release, with more ‘subjugated races’ to be unlocked after release.

The races to be active on release... *Has been edited do to new information. I believe these nine are finalized.*
1. Human
2. Fiends
3. Saris (Cats)
4. Elves
5. Dwarves
6. Half-Giants
8. Sslik (lizards)
9. Dragons
9. Gnomes

BTW From PC.IGN's E3 preview..."So you want to play a dragon? The way Horizons approaches Dragons is very interesting. When players enter the game as a dragon, they are babies. Babies have very few abilities. They cannot fly, for example. To become an adult dragon, players must meet two requirements. First, the dragon must be a certain age. When the character is created, a timer starts and when a requisite amount of time (not time played, but just time) has passed, that requirement is met. The second requirement is a horde. As in most stories about dragons, in Horizons they are a selfish lot. Instead of selling or trading valuable items, dragons will need to hold onto them until they collect enough to become an Adult. This will make for many interesting character choices, because in order to progress as a dragon, a player must act selfishly. Doing so reaps rewards, in the form of increased combat abilities and, well of course, flying."

Happy happy, joy joy! Happy happy, joy joy!
I can play as one Fiend that is all about his guild (hopefully the leader), and one Dragon/Kenneth Lay character.

Has everyone seen the big E3 trailer? If you haven’t go on over to stratics http://www.stratics.com/content/portals/hz/

I have also read about there being 9 races in Horizons. I am freaking overjoyed by that news as well! I downloaded that E3 video and for a video it was very impressive. Just think: usually videos drastically reduce resolution and even texture resolutions, so Horizons will look even better than the videos since video codecs tend to MURDER gameplay footages. I mean, if you look at some of those videos for SWG it is not impressive at all. In fact those SWG videos look like crap! But the game looks wonderful, and those videos certainly do not give the game justice. So i am thinking it'll be the same way with Horizons videos. Anyway...

I will probably have many characters on our server in this game. I plan on having an Elven Wizard as my main character and then experimenting with the others, all except for Dwarves which i dislike. Dwarves are stupid little gay men with beards.

EDIT -- oh and dont forget the cat-like race and the lizard-like race.
