I am playing the xbox version of arx fatalis and have come to a snag. I don't know if this is a problem with the game or if I am doing something wrong. I have followed the strategy guide and it is not working. I am at the part where you have to the King of Trolls while he is going to the bathroom. He is suppose to yell to the guards to let me through but all he tells me is that he wants to be left alone. |

I have the pc version, but I think the game play is same for this one. You have to go the kings bedroom, not the throne room with the two guards outside it. The bedroom is to the left of the throne room and around to the right and up. Search for clues, all over, and I mean all over, under and around the whole room. Then go find the kitchen and talk to cook, and find some of the other characters and talk to them as well. This part of game has many twists and it involves several NPC's. If you haven't figured out or found the clue, post again and I will tell you. This one is good and I hate to spoil it for you at this time.  And Welcome to the RPGDot by the way.

Ok - I had this very problem last night (on the pc problem) but figured out it as follows:
(a) You are referring to the goblin king not the troll king.
(b) There is an ordering problem - the quest doesn't break but it appears you have to do things in a certian order.
(c) Since you are gone back to the guard and he is telling you only the quartermaster can give you permission to enter - try going back to the goblin king and double click on him again for more speech. This time he shoudl yell (make sure you talked to the quater master and have gotten the key from under the (spoiler) first - not sure if you need them first but it doesn't hurt... |
