The question of avatar

This maybe not the best place for this topic, but it seemed better than off-topic. Anyways, I can't decide on which avatar to submit, so I wanted some opinions. So, wihtout further ado, here are the contestants:

1. moondragon00.jpg

This one was my FreeSpace2 avatar for a long time. I was gonna use this one, but I'm not sure if it scales well, and is supposed to be horizontal, instead of vertical.

2. moondragon01.jpg

This one used to be my wallpaper for couple of years. I'm not sure if it scaled well, and I don't think it's as neat of a picture out of context.

3. moondragon02.jpg

This was a picture I used as a squad graphic on my ship hull. Seems best scaled to 90x90, but I'm not sure if it's appropriate.

4. moondragon03.jpg

This one was my most recent background. It looks really nice in its full size, but I'm not sure how well it survived the scaling process.

P.S. If you have any other images that you think I should consider, please let me know.

Hmmm... I think it's still better off in OT than in a forum where site changes etc. are to be discussed.

I like the Mortal Kombat dragon the best. But what would you expect of a Mortal Kombat fan?

I'd say either 2 or 4, but I think 4 would scale better; it appeares to be almost the right size already. Plus it seems calmer. Two is very aggressive, while four seems to have a quiet confidence about it.

Yeah, this is why I originally picked that one up. But everybody knows it as a Mortal Combat sign, and I'm not sure if I want to be associated with that. Kindda like svastika is an ancient and neat symbol, but due to recent history it carries with it a certain amount of baggage that you don't want to be associated with (most likely).

I'm not sure I want to be associated with the game that revolutionized ripping people's spines out of their bodies in a single and elegant move. With a lot of blood all around, of course.

Then get someone to mirror it to a different direction.

Bwahahahah! That was good one, sauron38, especially for Shakti-worshippers.

3 are the best as avatar; but most everyone would recognize it as logo from Mortal Combat movie, or would associate/think you as MC fans....(that is also my reaction when saw it among the avatars you displayed). But if you don't care what others people think (or don't care much about avatars) then use it.

If your post wasn't an allusion to what the Nazis did with the swastika, I'm guilty of over-interpreting.

The swastika MoonDragon mentioned a few posts earlier was/is a sun symbol you'll still find in several eastern religions. It is, among other things, a sign of Shakti worship. The Nazi swastika, on the other hand, is the mirrored version of the 'good' Shakti swastika. So if the 'evil' Mortal Kombat dragon was mirrored, it would become a 'good' MoonDragon...

No. 2 cos' it's colorful, vibrant, eyecatching. Easily identifiable as it stands out in the forum page.

That sounds very similar to the Pentacle/Pentagram. The Pentagram that is supposedly on the door to hell, and one of the symbols of the Devil as an upside-down version of an ancient symbol of protection. It was once a very common symbol in western Europe, but when the Romans were conquering half the known world they said it was an evil symbol as part of the propaganda war to convince their own people that their endless expansion was justified.
