Laws are not created in a courthouse, with the exception of common law rulings, but rather they are enforced exactly according to law. If there is an error or a bias that satisfies the law in the aspects relating to appeals (which may stem from having a member of the court see the Monument, but it is unlikely) both parties have the right to another trial at a higher court, which would move eventually and take them out of that specific courthouse with its ever-so-offensive Monument.
I could see not wanting such a Monument in Congress to be much more reasonable, as laws can be created there and it's best not to have those politicians walk by anything that tells them not to steal or adulterise!

Yes, quite frankly, I don't care about or for the Monument, nor the finer points of American Law (is this practise for pro bono work?  ). Since I have declared this before, and utterly sensed Jung's displeasure at having to argue with someone who is scientifically indifferent to the issue, yet has an inordinate amount of fervour & free time for the topic, and remembering that all of you are very smart people, you'd see me instantly as what I've called myself on more than one occasion. Since we're using first person pronouns now, I'll say it. Wonderful. Dutch(?) law is different from American law. I'm not sure whether or not you're entitled to your views where you're from, but in America, where the Monument is, there are, sadly enough, legal grounds for it to be suggested that it does not have a place there.

Well you know my views, you can find holes in them as much as you want. As you are only in this for the argument as you say, it would only result in running in even more circles.

This goes for every religion, not just the the suppressive monotheist beliefs.

I say we should just beat our children, untill they think and belive like we do. Then in a couple hundred years we all seperate into seperate sects of humanity and have wars over which "race" is better. Haha...good idea. |

I think the whole thing stems from a deeper need felt by a lot of people in America. Not necessarily a majority, but enough to make a noise. It just so happened that one of these people was a judge ( or what ever his title was). People are scared. They are loosing faith in the govenment as it is now. They don't feel protected by it and they don't feel understood by it. Is the monument being there legal? No. Plain and simple. It is a religious symbol and as the law stands, does not belong in that place. The debate is much more complex. It is that these people feel it is needed there. That it will somehow make things right again. Like going back in time to a simpler day. They are drawing the line in the sand, and this is where they want to stop the separation of Church and State. Are they right? Are we going to far with the school prayer ban, the use of the word God in connection with anything in government? Here is where the majority whether right or wrong will win. As a Christian I think we have gone to far because this steps on my right to say and do what I want. But as an American I believe we have to have laws that are voted on and then followed. This debate will be one that goes on for a very long time, and it's hard to tell if anyone will truely win, no matter what the decision. Just my thoughts, and I know everyone agrees I have the right to have them, even if you disagree. As I believe in your right to disagree.
