Dig it out of the garbage can and send it to the developers with an explaination of what's wrong. They might send you a new one.

@ ShadowWolfe: Virus protection programs are like mothers: overly protective. If you played Gothic with that cd before then there is no reason that it should have anything harmful this time, right?

I think most game installations can trigger a virus alert. That is why they tell you to shut down your virus scanner during installation. As long as the game is legal copy, it should not pose a problem. I got the same reaction when I installed G2. I forgot to turn virus scan off. But after redoing it, and later virus scan after install, no problems found.

I'm curious... What is the name of the virus that your anti-virus reports? Also, what av program do you use?

This is just a wild guess but it could be because in the Gothic.ini file it has pc info such as 'IdComputerName' which looks like your comps network name.

when it comes up it is identified as a data miner ... then upon further investigation it called it along the lines of atracker.e and downloader.baker
it was then confirmed with my isp that millions of spam was leaving my computer during the day and that my service was shut down till i could contain it ... so i got rid of the disk and ran all my system virus scanners ... got rid of norton and ran trendmicros cillin it found 3 new hosts of the virus or worm and cleaned it and eradicated it ... this took me hours cause of my large hd ... so i ran adaware and found a shitload of new spam on my comp got rid of it and set my internet protocols to different varients so i am now aware of new spam and viri and worms on my computer so i can take action. This in turn left me with a huge bandwidth bill from my isp ... it seems i took up 800gb over the last night. :S 400$ bill i need to pay to my isp.
