Will there ever be a Wizardry 9?

My dad recently got Wizardy 8 (he has been playing those games since the beginning) And I really enjoyed the game So I bought the Wizardry archives on ebay, and after doing some surfing. I realised that Sirtechs site hasn't been updated in a year! And that do to lay offs or whatever, they halted production on Wizardry 9....So do any of you hope we there will be another Wizardry game? Do you think the odds are good or bad?

The likelihood is very low that Wizardry 9 will be made. I still hold out some hope that one day it will, but I haven't been able to admit to myself that it will not happen.

Here is an article from over a year ago.

Robert: Yes, absolutely the chances are very good. I can not tell you much more than this. When some decisions are taken, and I have something to report, I will contact you.

Strategy First bought the rights to the Wizardry franchise, along with the Jagged Alliance series. They've put out a little add-on for JA2 and there have been rumors (don't think anything was ever formally announced) about JA3 being in production. To the best of my knowledge, there are not even flimsy rumors of Strategy First producing Wiz9 (regardless of what eternal optimist Robert Sirotek might say).

This, of course, makes me very unhappy. Wiz8 officially bumped MM7 from the top slot of my all-time-favorite-game list, so I'd pretty well wet myself if another installment was produced.

The closest you're likely to get to Wiz 9, is Grimoire, which looks and plays a great deal like the old Wizardry's. (6- If you enjoyed them, you'll enjoy Grimoire. Look for an RPGDot feature on this in the very near future.

2 new JA games are in development.
I donīt think SirTech also sold the Wizardry franchise to Strategy First. They still have it, but are without funds and team.

It is really ok, I do not mind to have this thread here. You can just find more info there.
