Gothic Ending (no spoilers)

Is something supposed to happen *after* the ending movie and the credits play?

For me it went back to the game screen for a fraction of a second and then quit to desktop immediately. It looked very much like one of those crashes I sometimes had in the game.

Is it a crash or is this how it's supposed to be?
