I haven't really gotten that far into the game... and was wondering if anyone had some tips on choosing a camp to join... I know a lot of people joined the Old camp, and some the New, but has anyone joined the Sext camp???

I have Joined the Three of them and I have some info for u
Old Camp: everybody choos this one when they started playing Gothic and If You want to be a mage this is the best way because you can be a mage faster than in the new camp. But You have to change to the New Camp Later On.
New Camp:This is almost like joining the old camp but if you want to be a warrior this is the best way.
Sect Camp: I Liked playing as one of the brotherhood the best is lot of weed LOL. But seriously is a good experience and you can b a warrior and a mage at the same Time because you can get to circle 4 in magic.
--------------
Now speaking like your playing Gothic two
Old Camp = Mage (The Fastest Way To Reach Magic)
New Camp = Dragon Slayer (Almost impossible to be a mage but good to be a warrior)
Sect Camp = Paladin (You can be a warrior that can use magic Runes)
---------------
Now Make Your Choice I tell you again I've enjoyned playing as a sect camper.

I think I'm the only person here who joined Sect Camp first time I played the game! Yea, I think Sect. Camp is the easiest to join, but I recommend Old Camp, because you can join the New or Sect Camp l8r (you will find out why later in the game). Well, thats i t

My choice

Personally I think it's best to join the Old Camp and do all the quests till you get kicked out, because, if you start off there you get a LOT of experience as opposed to joining the New or sect camps right away. THink about it, the old camp gives you a lot of experience and if you stick with it till you get kicked out, join the new camp or sect, you'll be a lot stronger.

I joined the Sect Camp first time through. I just liked the visuals in that camp the best. Plus, the Old Camp is too "establishment", and the new camp is too "anti-establishment", so I took the third path... Second time I did the Old Camp since I wanted to become a fire mage, but I bitterly resented the "For Gomez" part of my career.

As for the experience argument, you can do all the "entry-level" quests for all three camps if you want to max experience, regardless of which one you actually end up joining.

That's true, but if you actually join the old camp first and beat it till you get kicked out, then join another camp as apposed to joining the sect or new camp automatically. know what i mean?

I think the first time you play, the most important thing to consider is storyline. The storylines are very different depending on which camp you join. If you join the Old Camp your first time playing the game, you'll find the experience more rewarding. The storyline is best if you join the Old Camp first, then join the New Camp after you get kicked out. Joining the New Camp or the Sect. Camp instead, results in different advantages and disadvantages. The one disadvantage that joining the New Camp and Sect. Camp both share, is the lack of storyline compared to joining the Old Camp. I strongly believe storyline is the key for everyone's first time through the game. If you want the fullest and best experience, join the Old Camp first.

What? You guys just spoiled the whole plot for me by saying you get kicked out of the old camp! Couldnt you have added a ''spoiler'' sign or something before writing your message??

Correction people, if you join the Old Camp, you'll automatically join the New Camp afterwards.. you do not have the choice to join the Sect Camp more than once, no matter what you do..

Becoming a Templar is great - you've got the best spells of a magician(healing, light and storm of fire), and the strength and skill og the very best warriors.. it doesn't get any easier than that..
