I was wondering if anybody has played this game on windows xp. I e-mailed the company and they said it would work but it had some glitches. If anyone could fill me in i would appreciate it.

My hub and I play on XP fine... there are a few glitches(such as random game crashes) though but we have yet to install the patch but that may fix it for us since we are running a GeForce three too

I am running Windows XP Home Edition on

AMD Athlon XP 1800+ (1.53ghz)
512mb DDR SDRAM PC-2100
Geforce III 64mb AGP
Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer 5.1

It runs flawless at max detail/resolution (1600x1200). A few occasional crashes in game, but not many. But I can't load Gothic twice in one Windows session. If I play it and exit, I have to reboot to play it again or it locks up. Seems to be some kind of memory leak. But other than that, it rarely crashes. But alot of visual effects I cannot see unless I am indoors.

XP rocks, but it does tend to 'catch' Directx voodoo better than earlier OS's. If I play too long (XP pro/GeForce 2 GTS) I end up with an unhandled kernal exception that actually blue screens XP! This is the ONLY app I have EVER seen BS XP! (and I have hundreds of games loaded from old kids stuff to the latest RtCWolfenstein.) They really should clean up their mess (the developers) as anyone running XP with GeForce could reproduce the bug in less than a day. I can provide core dumps with stack traces showing the offending calls. (XP doesnt need the symbols preloaded, Woohoo) Post a reply support or dev if you want them.
