At a quick glance they look like Java applets...so you'd start by learning Java. Rather than trying that, I would suggest playing with level editors for a game you like such as the NWN toolset or even many FPS games. _________________ Editor @ RPGDot |

I'd reccomend TESCS. It's quite easy to learn, has a lot of fans, and the community is Excellent! In addition to this, there's a very usefl scripting engine, that can help you learn programming later. BTW, IIRC, the games at these sites are just flashes. |

If you're on about web-based games, Flash, Java or Virtools would be good (Java is probably the only one you could do for free, but it's probably the hardest).
For PC RPGs, the TES (Morrowind) tools are excellent, and I haven't looked at the NWN tools, but I hear they are good too. So I guess it just depends on your preference of game. There's also an app called RPG Maker, but I don't really know anything about it. I think it's geared towards making graphically-simple Final Fantasy-style RPGs.
For PC games in general... hmmm, not sure about anything beyond FPS toolsets, but there are plenty of those to choose from. I'd wait for Far Cry (unless it's already out, I'm not sure) or Half Life 2, the tools for those games look fantastic. |
