Stingers Are Good

A few days ago there was a thread about items and what are they good for...

Bloodfly stingers ARE good ...

Somewhere in the castle (in old Gomez room but I'm not sure) you'll find a letter (or message or something) and if you read it you learn to remove healing juice from stingers ...

So you can use them as healing potions I presume ( I never tried myself cause I only got the letter in the castle the second time I played and that time I didn't put any experience into hunting skills) the same way you can use crawlers mandibles as mana potions ...

Thank you! I knew there was something special about those stingers... I couldn't remember what it was though!

Do you get some extra strong potion from it? Or a normal one?

Mandibles and Stingers

I have a pocket full of stingers and mandibles. I have found the letters that tell you that you can use each in some way but I haven't been able to figure out how. I have alchemy and I've learned all the various potions to brew. Is the use of mandibles and stingers something that only a mage can do?

I think you can just "use" them in your inventory, same as how you "use" a sword to equip it as a weapon.

Minecrawler mandibles are VERY GOOD for a mage. They restore your mana from 0 to FULL with just one mandible. If you have over 500 mana, then this is at times a lifesaver, when you have some bunch of mobs charge you and you just spent last drop of mana for a single fireball... No time to gulp the potion, just "bite" the minecrawler mandible and done, full mana.

However, the description tells that 'their effect will fade in time', this means that after certain amount of mandibles, they will no longer raise your mana. They will basically do nothing. Sucks. I always had potions, but also always had mandibles with me, just in case I get into some sticky situation and today suddenly they stopped working. Bah, next time I need to count how many mandibles it will take.

I'm sure someone here could tell exactly how many you can consume before they no long have an effect on you.

Only the first 10 minecrawler mandibles will restore one's mana completely.
