G1-first start: Can't find file-message,plz help

Hi.all (new on the forum)

Played g2+addon before.Now bought g1,installed it and the patch 1.08k.But can't start now.get the following message: B:VFile:_WORK\DATA\SCRIPT\
_COMPILED\PARTICLEFX.DATCode:255
Using Windows XP on P(R)4 2.80 GHz,1GB Ram,with Radeon 9700 Pro.
Thanks in advance,hoping you can help

P.S.: downloading now playerkit 1.08k.And it's the german version I bought.

Found a solution meanwhile: reinstalled it on harddrive C (instead of G) without any patches,just the bare 1.08j version I bought.Now it runs
