The rule of thumb is, that it will require just a little more than your computer will put out.

Check our frontpage. Evil Avatar lists his experience with a 1.1 GHz machine with a GeForce3.
I think that this will be about the minimum for a REALLY satisfying experience, but you know, this can change until the gold version (getting better, that is).

Ok, I have a PIII450 with 256 MB ram and a 16 MB video card. Will this do with minimum features. I know on a game like Max Payne I could switch the different features like lighting, decals, shading, and shadows using a slid bar to an acceptable level. But will Morrowwind allow this? If I can I would turn shadows off, keep some decals, and put lighting to medium. |

I am sure Morrowind will have many features to fine tune performance. But you need to be more specific about your graphics card. 16MB card doesnt mean much.
Bethesda themselves said that anything below a nVidia GeForce2 or an ATI Radeon will not be suitable. |

I heard on a radio review of the Xbox that it runs on a 700mgz cpu. I am not sure if it is a Pentium or Athlon. If true shouldn't a 700 mgz system be sufficient?
I am still running a 600mgz and I am not going to upgrade unitil the 3 gig Pentium is released. |

Xbox is only 733Mhz PIII yes... but it has a video card thats basically a Geforce 3 and runs at only 640x480 in it's standard output mode. Plus more optimization is possible because of the hardware doesn't change and you don't have to worry about compatibility issues... |

Plus there is much less operating system overhead on XBox.
640x480? Are you kidding? That's awful. |

A Riva TNT 16MB will not do the job. And there is no use in putting a GeForce 4 into your computer either. With your processor, a GeForce 2 will be a good choice, because a faster card wll not get the data fast enough.

Well I just found out about this game while looking for an RPG to get. The movie blew my mind. I have been looking for a game that can give my rig a good challenge and this looks to be challenger . This will be my first rpg on a PC so I am hoping it is as good as its touted to be..

Bigkabuto, you definatly fall above the recommended requirements and from what i've heard you should be able to play it smoothly at 1024x768 but maybe have to tweak the fogging and shadows adjustments a bit. But then agian they've had time to improve performance since the Beta was release to the press, so maybe you could run it with settings cranked at 1024x768..
----
What are the system requirements for the PC version?
MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Windows ME/98 128 MB RAM; Windows XP/2000 256 MB RAM; 500 MHz Intel Pentium III, Celeron, or AMD Athlon processor; 8x CD/DVD-ROM Drive; 1 GB free hard disk space; Windows swapfile; DirectX 8.1 (included); 32MB Direct3D Compatible video card and DirectX 8.1 compatible driver; DirectX 8.1 compatible sound card; Keyboard; Mouse
RECOMMENDED: 800 MHz or faster Intel Pentium III or AMD Athlon processor; 256 MB RAM; NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS, or ATI Radeon 7500 or faster video card.
