It happened to me too many times. Its really annoying but luckily..I never lost any saves.
I was using a 256 Ram with P4 and geforce 4 card. It was running horribly at certain part of the game. I have to set my visual view to a miserable 60 % and everything is foggy. I can't even see a wolf standing ahead of me until it started charging

I finally upgraded my PC to a 512 , P4 and geforce 4 FX 5200 and it runs like smooth caramel. Never have any problem again

I've only lost my savegame once..but that's one too many...since my system sucks my game quits several times each day.
When I have money (not too long til I hope) I'll by a new computer

My game worked slowly 2.. But i didnt relly cared.. but gothic 1 is Working Smooth as a baby's @ss

I lost bilgot halfway to the castle and wrote him off as MIA. Later in the game when i was leaving the Valley of the mines, the dude had found his way there by himself. I talked to him and collected my XP
