how do you know a foe's alignment ?

there are some items/spells/abilities that apply only to a certain alignment
but how do I know this?

the info screen (look at creature) does not tell it

Human vary of course, but I assume that all "monsters" are evil, animals "neutral" and what about undead? evil?

Apparently it is the color around a person if your pointer is over it.Or you could try the right mouse buuton and ask more info on person.

The color is only their attitude towards you, friendly, neutral or hostile. You can't see the alignment by simply looking at them, I think D&D has a 'detect alignment' spell, but since I haven't played magick users much, I don't remember.

Generally animals are neutral, undead and some monsters are evil.
