I have complete the necessary quests (freeing Bennet getting the diary from Cornelius and talking to Lord Hagen) but I am not given Paladin status. All Hagan does is thank me. I've talked to others but they tell me I'm not a paladin. I've gone back to Hagen and there's no dialogue other than "how's things."
Please help. I love this game.

Hmm, after I came back from the VoM and I gave the letter and freed Bennet, I asked I could join his order and I joined..

Hmm...all I can think of is that I talked to Xardas first. He told me that he had to be convinced I could take on the dragons before he'd help repair the Eye of Innos, and that I should get better equipment. I figured that was my cue to become a pally, so I went and talked to Hagen about joining the order, and I was in. Sorry I can't help you more there. |

Try sleeping on it.Maybe the next day ( in the game ) Lord Hagen will act differently.
Or you could try loading a previous savegame if you hadn't allready done it.
Go for it! Don't give up!
Start from the beginning if necessary but don't give up!

Xardas should work but also talk to Bennet....The Mayor(governer guy)(father of the traitor) talk to anyone you can lol....we always want loading to be last  I hate loading

Thanks for all the replies. It seems that I have become a mercenary through no plan of mine. I wonder if this has happened to others? I was merrily on my way to becoming a paladin and now I'm wearing dragon armor and grunting my way across the kingdom. Oh well, I'll finish as a Merc, I suppose. I think this is reflecting my life too closely....
