diablo

Who still cares for Diablo? I do.
I played it several times a few years back, now I starts to play it again. The sorceress role ( static field, firewall, frozen orb, teleport ). I find the use of teleport to escape from danger as well to fight. The side-kick is a rogue with a deadly bow( lightning 10-250 ). No cheat whatsoever. The game is classic!

I wonder why RPGDot does not carries its forum.

Or because years ago a debate errupted about whether Diablo was an RPG.... lets just say it got messy Deus Ex got drawn into the fight and well heated words were exchanged and ..... oh god I can't go back to that time I'll have flashbacks

Lets just say many people enjoy Diablo (and Diablo 2 - I like the assasin) but it may not be an RPG

(Please don't reopen the old debate - you will doom us all )

I really enjoyed Diablo several years ago. And I enjoyd Diablo II several years ago as well.
No matter whether we call them RPGs or not, both are very good games.

This forum is for CRPG's only, so I'm going to move this thread to the "Absolute of topic" forum. tsk. tsk.

Just kidding

diablo is not a RPG

I have no intention to get into debating whether Diablo is or isnt RPG. The main thing is there is not many good RPG or the like around. Count on your fingers (diablo, gothic, morrowind). Now if we don't want to go back too far(fallen).

i played Diablo II online as though playing it would get me laid, by which I mean at every oppurtunity. Hell, I installed it on my schools computer during study once (Brought the "T" rated version) and played it on the uber T1 connection. It's merit as a single-player game are nil, but koleckting ph4t lewt online was a fucking barrel of fun. Man, this thread sure brings back some memories.

Of course, that was back in like, 2002, right now it's at my EB collecting dust as I recently traded it in for Wizardry 8.

Diablo1&2 rule! I dust them off once a year to replay them.

Currently I am playing Champions of Norrath on PS2, which is a fun clone of Diablo.

I hope Diablo3 becomes a reality.

soooo very true *grin*

Just to throw my two cents into the pool: I too enjoyed D1 and D2 ... not RPGs but fun action games...great for those days when I just have to pile up the body count.

d1 and d2 are RPGS. They got everything a RPG has:
the quest (oke no real important part in the D's but form the story anyhow)
the leveling
the character creation
the replayability
different classes
SO in which way are the D's games no RPGS?

Lintra starts to formulate an answer to the question in great depth, but then decides to cut his losses.

"titus, a very simple test: Do you have ANY dialouge options in D1 or D2? Nope - so not a CRPG"

Realizing that he may have just touched off a fire storm, Lintra retreats to the forest and lets his spies keep him updated on the fall out. *grin*

Oh no, another "Is Diablo a RPG" thread. I wonder if it is really so important. It isn't important - at least not for me. It was good game and enjoyed it as well as I enjoyed Wizardry 8.
