Hmm thats a tough one. I would wait untill you get the game to see what you need. You know if your hard drive just wont stop loading and the game jerks constantly then you cant do without the ram. But if the hard drives OK then get the G4.
Neither of those two are more of a bottlenek than the other so its kinda hard to recommend one upgrade above the other. |

It's not as though I'm going to play it on any more than 800x600 or maybe even the next one up, but only if I get the GeForce 4. I think that I'll be fine Ram-Wise, Gothic was at 1200x1600, so Morrowind should be fine at lower settings. What I would like though is the Ti's excellent AA. I could get both, but that would just be greedy. _________________ Make good choices. |

And of course you get the nice water effects with the G4 but not the Ram.
The best tip I can give you for improving memory performance without buying any is to set your windows swap file to double your memory size. You'd be surprised how much difference that makes. |

I'll try that, right now it is 200 Mb short of double. Thanks _________________ Make good choices. |

Now, what should the maximum be? I have the minimum at 512 and the max at 520. _________________ Make good choices. |

ah ok.
There is something else you can do to one of the windows INI files to force the OS to use your main RAM before using the swap file. You have to add "ConservativeSwapFileUsage=1" to somewhere but I cant remember exactly where yet.
Let me try and find out where it needs to go...
edit: you need to put it in the System.ini file, at the bottom of the section marked [386enh].
Run sysedit to get to the system ini file.
This was a tweak for Windows 9X, I dont know whether it will make any difference to XP, but it wont hurt. |
