Anybody know how this thing works? I'm talking about the extra ability of priests and bishops. I've had damage as low as 2 points per critter and as high as 40 (with paralyze thrown in on some). It doesn't seem to be based on level, skill, monster type, monster level, or monster quantity....
As far as I can tell, the manual only mentions it in the class descriptions (in the back) and in the combat section (just telling what the button is). _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

Sorry, I can't quantify it at all. My experience is that the stronger the monster, the less damage that was done - but you say that doesn't seem to corrollate. Caster's level seemed to corrollate to if a monster would be affected at all - but again you disagree.
I found that Banish (divinity realm, available to priests & mages) consistently did a lot more damage than the "dispel" option. I don't know if you're running a bard, or if you can get your hands on a "Cornu of Demonspawn" (my bard imported hers from Wiz7), but this is a kick-ass instrument that casts Banish at high levels. _________________ The world itself shifts and changes and fades to mist like the strings of a minstrel's harp, and mayhap the dreams we forge are more enduring than the works of kings and gods.-Robert E. It's possible that monster level is, in fact, the driving factor, but I'm not sure. I did the 40 HP against two rapax ghosts in one of the egg dungeons. I did 2 HP against some vampire bats (or was it bat vampires) in the Umpani caves. These aren't the only times I've used it, but they seem representative of my experiences. I guess I didn't check what level the rapax ghosts were, but I'd just about bet they're tougher than some 80HP bats... _________________ =Proud Member of the Non-Flamers Guild=

i usually stop using those as soon as i get the Holy Water spell, which is early cause it's one you have to pick (no books); you don't build any skill doing it, and casting HW not only builds your magic, it also does more damage, and because it's a ball spell, it goes farther and around corners, too. Banish is an all-enemies spell, very handy, too. |
