Next level down, you'll meet the guardian; defeat him and the password will be revealed!!

The guardian isn't that ghost thing that I can't seem to hit and always get killed by is it?

I'm in the first town and have been wandering around a LOT. I've picked up the following quests, but don't know how to get them done.

Guild of Mages - return the staff of scorching to Rianne the W ...
