ah sorry dont have much knowlage with spacer
but i think theres suppose to be some plugin for 3ds Max so you can edit the zen files there .. problem is as far as i know there only for 3ds max 3 or 4 ... |

what are you useing for the editing ?
most programs have some kind of buildin hotkey system "shift" and "ctrl" normaly lets you select multiple objects ..
