The accents do not matter one jolt. What is imprtant (for those who enjoy voice acting in games) is the conviction with which the words are spoken and how well the lines are delivered.

I agree, the graphics in Gothic 1 still look nice even after over a year. Turn the view distance up as far as it will go, and play at 1024x764 resolution at least.

Does this only affect Windows 98 systems?
Same thing happened to me. It is a LONG delay caused by the Virtual Disk File program which Gothic 2 insists on running every time on *certain* systems.
