EA rushed Ultima 8 out the door, many features had to be cut and thus it was an incomplete game.

I think perhaps the monks of the monastery sneaked in, knicked them and then nailed them to the walls so there power may never wielded again.  |

| I am fairly sure I saw someone mention that it was a quest linked to the monastery, possible requires you to go the mage route. Think they also said all it had in was a blank rune. |
