The 4 times I was "drained" were all during fights with diseased creatures. Seems I caught Brown Rot one time, and who knows what else.

no, actually it works lik this:
hit tilde (the ~ ) and the console pops up. Just type TGM and it "toggles god mode"
But if you want the other things you have to type:
'player->additem "Gold_ ... |
