I did threat him, I even tried reloading and going via different dialogue branch.
He says: "OK, OK, I'll just check how I repaired it", and continues to hammer.
There are no other dialogue options l ... |

Really??? That is very interesting indeed. How many apples did you eat to gain strength? 
Didn't count but probably around 50, maybe more.

Yes, I really did increase strength by 1 after I ate apples, there even was some message about it.
And I ate a lot of mushrooms early in the game while doing all the quests ... |

I don't have the Maps yet, but I can tell you about the Entrance.
In G2 you can reach the "Old World" by two roads or paths. One is full of Orcs, the other is relatively safe.
