Whereas Freedom Force is a single Player superhero RPG, City of Heroes is MMORPG - and the corresponding preview can be found at IGN.PC today. Here's something from that one:
Undoubtedly there are many of you out there wondering if you can play as the villain in the game. The answer is no. But they have their reasons... "There's really two very cogent reasons," explains Jack, "First of all, if we allowed supervillains, what would they do? Do they just go around and fight other heroes? Do they commit crimes in their spare time? It creates a problem of design and also there's a moral question. If we want 13 and 14 year old children playing this game, do we want them playing supervillains selling narcotics on the street? It's offensive on a number of levels." All the same, they've also realized the importance of more personal grievances with villains and will include limited player villains. "We're looking at there is making them into a sort of a game master, so that they set up there own villain lair and challenge hero groups to come in and try to attack them. However, the player villains will not be able to actually commit crimes in the game." Those of you wanting to test your character out against another human player will also have a PvP arena so fear not, you'll be able to superclobber your superfriends one way or the other. |
