Then, as alternatives like comics and video games gained in popularity, children started paying less attention to these stories. After all, they were old and had been passed down through generations. In the fantasy realm, this brought about a dire crisis. Without the faith that had long been its life source, its foundation began to crumble, slowly at first, then ever more rapidly. As the memories of them grew fainter, characters and entire tales began to disappear. Of course, the less familiar ones were the first to fade, but it was clear that unless something could be done, not even the most famous would be safe.
