A preview of Eve Online is today's feature at Gamespy. Eve Online is a massively multiplayer, online, persistent world game. perhaps even too real to be called a game, but definitely more fun than reality. Played on the Net, it takes place in a world that is alive and kicking every day, every hour. Players are spaceship captains cruising around the universe, trading, fighting and communicating with other players. Now, here's a chunk from the preview, just to wet you mouth and make you click the link:
The player also is assigned a non-player character (NPC) to serve as an "agent," who in the early stages provides missions to be completed for a fee. As with most games of this type, money is a key element, so in order to better compete and ferry goods, a bigger ship is needed. In order to battle the opposition, more and different weapons need to be acquired. Characters can be improved through "cyber implants" and "DNA enhancers," which also have a fee. The missions provide a good initial source of funds, though there's profit in trading, covert operations, and so on. |
