Over at CyberArena, you will find an interview with Primo Pulanco, Technical Designer and 3D Artist for Black Isle Studios. He talks about his work on the Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale series:
Nixlord: Now that you've mentioned it, what's the deal with Icewind Dale 2? Is there anything new in the engine or system?
Proxi: We're still using the same engine used in the previous Dale games but we've also incorporated some of the 3rd edition rules for Icewind Dale 2. We've added more classes or kits that players can choose from to make their characters. Sub-races were also added. Some cool new monsters, and even new items for players to discover and equip themselves with. I really like the first Icewind game and I'm very excited about this sequel.
