There is a Midgard preview at Smidge.com. It's based on ECTS material, and her's the usual snippit:

    Tech-Demo #2

In the second tech demo, they showed us a small boat with a fisher on the shallow water. The boat began to move forward and Ragnar increased the wave strength; you could see foam coming up behind the boat and had an amazing view of the waves affecting the boat aswell as the boat affecting the waves. This is the only time we had seen such realistic water and we saw that the Funcom guys were really proud of what they had created by seeing our astonishment.

Midgard is going to be a very unique game because its focus relies on trade, profession and economy. There will not be many monsters (we heard of trolls), but a lot of animals that can be hunted like deer, bears and other forest animals. The player begins in one of the 5 AI-controlled starter towns and can found a new village with other people (about 50 per server). Finding a good spot will be hard because the terrain is very rough, animals, monsters and other (AI) players can affect the establishment of a new home. Within the villages, there will be rankings (like village chief) and people will have to work together to create a good economy instead of slay each other. When you kill the best (and maybe only) blacksmith in town, your supply of weapons will die down and you will not be able to defend your city anymore. The resources will be very limited and people will have to trade, gather resources themselves and worship the gods to survive and make their community powerful.
