Troika's RPG based on the White Wolf PnP rules, VtM: Bloodlines, has been previewed at Armchair Empire. Here's a snip:
It’s early to say how the adventure and RPG aspects will pan out, but it seems that Troika are at least aiming for something a little less linear than Redemption, starting right at the beginning by letting players choose to which of the seven vampire clans they will belong, before developing ‘up to 12 different Vampire powers’. Whether that will equate to a vampire Jedi Knight or a bloodsucking System Shock is anyone’s guess, but with Troika’s promise of multiple solutions to any given problem, it seems likely that they’re setting the bar high and trying to innovate – perhaps a good deal beyond either of those titles. A ‘reputation’ feature is set to be implemented, alongside a system of vampire hierarchy in which to ascend, and this combined with your choice of clan will influence your interactions with NPCs throughout the game which, admittedly, is nothing that we haven’t seen before, but it has usually been in games far more committed to their RPG roots and rarely in first person titles, even then. |
