And over at the bytesector website, previewer Carl U. has posted his impressions on both the Xbox in general, and Fable in particular...
Now I know you want to hear more after that overview, so let’s dive deeper into the game that is Fable. You start out as a youth on a mission and are essentially a nobody – no reputation and very few friends. Your adventures begin when you join the Hero’s Guild after being saved from a group of bandits attacking your home town. The Hero’s Guild is the central hub where you learn new abilities, receive quests, and do all the other things good adventurers need to do. Quests in Fable are really all about gaining reputation and money. If you want to really gain reputation, you can choose to boast about a quest when you take it. Boasting simply means that your character will make sure everyone knows of your deeds, like saving the town’s orchard from a bandit raid. As I mentioned before, Fable allows you to choose good or evil, so on the flip side, you could also be boasting about being the one who took out the town’s orchard. |
