GameSpy caught up with Mathew Ford (Lead Program Manager) from Microsoft at GenCon in Milwaukee to talk to him about his company's MMORPG, Asheron's Call II.

Here's a bit:
GameSpy: And now you're with Microsoft. Ok, as far as Asheron's Call 2 goes, what would you say is the biggest change facing Asheron's Call 1 players?

Mathew Ford: One thing that will surprise people is that we've gone to great lengths to tear the game down and build it back up again. We've decided not to go the incremental route; we still plan on improving Asheron's Call 1 even after 2 is released. Instead of a graphics update in this sequel, it's a whole new game. New graphics, monsters, everything. Asheron's Call 2 is a much more elegant game, it's much more exciting. You are still doing tactical things, and number crunching, but we're moving away from downtime, and stats, and other more dull things. Also, we've really applied so many lessons we learned from AC1. AC2 just feels like a much more evolved game.
