This is probably because it is so single-mindedly focused on one thing: combat. There are no other ways to play this game, no roles to take that don't end up with you in a scrap. The plot is vague and poorly developed, character interaction is sparse and purely for information-gathering, there's really nothing more than fight after fight after fight. Is this what role-playing is all about? Haven't things moved on?
