GamesDomain has a preview of Disciples 2 - Dark Prophecy (do I have to tell you I am a fan of the first game? *smile*). They were able to get their hands on a beta, but... well, read yourself:

Unfortunately, there just isn't enough gameplay in the beta to give a full evaluation of the new features. The new Empire units add more depth, though we'll have to wait for the other campaigns to see just how much the updated character types change play. Combat, however, is dramatically different thanks to the ability to use items. This adds a welcome new element that really makes you think before entering battle. One question that keeps emerging in the beta quests: "Do we keep two healing potions or do we mix and match with healing and resurrection?" Making this problem even more of an issue is killer AI. Enemies always seem to choose the right member of your party to strike. Ranged foes unerringly home in on healers in the back row, and enemies of all stripes will often gang up on a specific character and kill him before moving on to a fresh target. The bad guys in the beta don't mess around.
