IGN.PC has written a preview of Heroes of Might & Magic 4, the soon to be released turn based strategy game with RPG elements. Here's something from the preview that was posted February 4th and slipped our attention then:
Once you enter combat, the interface and look changes quite a bit. Those used to the hexagonal grid of the past will be a little surprised to see that the look has been updated a little bit and that the grid is now kaput. Instead, you'll see your armies lined up in battle formation, ready to wreak some havoc. Like the battle maps of the past, it's fixed so no scrolling is necessary. Each of the army types is represented by one of their kind and a number showing how many of them are there. For instance, if I had a group of 62 dwarves, you would see the one little representative holding an axe and the number 62 over his head. If you right click on the dwarf, you'll see how many hitpoints for the representative unit. When they hit someone, they hit with the combined force of the 62 units. When they get hit, they start counting down. So if something hit the group for 200 hit points of damage and each of the dwarves was worth around 8 hit points a piece, then you would only have 36 dwarves left when all is said and done. When all of the units in the group are dead, they'll finally stop fighting. | Source: Bluesnews |
