Sea Dogs went fairly unnoticed when it was released, and now that Sea Dogs 2 is in Bethesda's pipeline, you may find it for a cheap price. MonkeyReviews has written a review of Sea Dogs, and their rating is 4 out of 5 bananas. Here's their summary:
As you can see, there is a lot of depth to Sea Dogs’ gameplay with the meat of it taking place at sea. Even if you don't think of yourself as a salty sea dog, don’t be deterred from this highly original title. The fact that there is a lot more to say about it than I have time for in this review is a testament to the amount of detail Akella has crammed into this title. Nevertheless, some rather annoying bugs have crept through and rear their ugly heads frequently though none are game-killers. Despite the feeling of a lack of polish, the game’s visuals, ambiance and soundtrack more than make up for any shortcomings. If you’re a patient gamer who has a lot of time on your hands, you’ll find a rewarding gameplay experience in this unique game. Kudos to the Russian developer for having the guts to take a risk and add a little variety to the gaming menagerie.
