The Future of Might & Magic

MM Worlds has a lengthy report on the future of the Might & Magic franchise online (both, the RPG and the strategy series).
Mike Meyers from 3DO has informed them that he has taken on the role as the head of PR, a position that was formerly occupied by Kate Hedstrom who was laid off recently just like many other employees from 3DO and New World Computing (NWC).
The good news for the fans of the strategy series (Heroes of Might & Magic) is that 3DO seems to have approved to NWC developing a Heroes of Might & Magic IV (HoMM IV) patch, an expansion pack to HoMM IV, and a sequel, i.e. HoMM V. John Van Caneghem, producer of several M&M titles is supposedly going to be deeply involved into the development of those.

The future of the Might & Magic RPG series on the other hand appears to be kind of undecided. 3DO/NWC seem to be very happy with the current sales figures since they expected MMIX to sell worse than it actually has so far but they are currently hesitating to make any comments about the future of the series.
Check MM Worlds for the original quotes from 3DO's Mike Meyers and more.
