CVG has a review of Gothic online today (you have to click a little due to their strange linking system). Their rating is 74/100 - one of the lowest seen so far. Their summary of their shortie:

Cracking map aside, there's not much that sets Gothic apart from other RPGs. Sticking to every cliché in the book, it's sedate nature and slightly unbalanced difficulty level count against it. Yet, I still want to play on. Mostly because I want to see more of the picturesque landscape. History won't be too kind to it, but at a time when semi-decent 3D fantasy RPGs are thin on the ground, you won't be too disappointed if you're prepared to adopt a modicum of patience.

There's already a hefty discussion about that review in our forums :-).
