RPGVault has now posted the 12th Mimesis Online Developer Diary, again written by Derek Hanley from Tannhauser Gate. It's a progress report and talking about some questions that were put during a recent online chat:
Anyway, at the Mimesis chat on Saturday, a question was put to me - and not for the first time, I might add - about transferring between servers. In case any of you don't know already, moving from game server to game server is an integral part of gameplay in Mimesis Online, and one of the things that differentiates it from other similar games. Each Mimesis Online server has a different land on it, separated from the other lands of the gameworld by barriers like radioactive wastelands, energy barriers, vast stretches of water or sheer and insurmountable mountain ranges. All attempts at creating reliable air transport technology have failed, mass transport systems are limited… but there are ways of traveling between lands - natural energy tunnels called access fields can transport you to other lands, provided you have a navigator with you. There are tunnels through the mountains, and some metro lines have even been constructed. There are a few ships capable of braving the stormy unpredictable seas between lands. |
