Hack and slash D&D goodness. Light on plot, heavy on combat. Bring a cleric and a paladin!

garrett has rated 8/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from garrett)

A nice dungeon crawl - a little too heavy reg combnat IMO

Calis has rated 7/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Calis)

A pretty decent AD&D-based dungeon crawl. The story is surprisingly engrossing, and the art is top-notch. If you enjoyed the combat in the Baldur's Gate games, you owe it to yourself to check out this title.

Excellenet! Excellent! Best of the Infinity Engine games. Great story, fantastic music, beautiful scenerey. Only two drawbacks was in party movement and the horrible expansion pack that cost too much money.

I enjoyed this, but was never able to finish...it started to seem like work after a while.

ender has rated 9/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from ender)

Richly crafted hack 'n slash with many tactical elements. The look and feel of the gameplay, I feel, is far more polished than any of the Baldur's Gate titles. The gameplay never slows down, and you're always on your toes. Definately a gem.

Great game!!!!!

DarkFencer has rated 8/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from DarkFencer)

I had doubts about this game before I played it, advertised as just hack and slash without much story, but I was won over by this game. Basically just a linear dungeon crawl, nevertheless this game keeps you playing with its great combat system. The battles are challenging, but not too much so that makes it frustrating, and really make you plan things out. The music is one of the best points. The Jeremy Soule (also doing Morrrowind) soundtrack was amazing! The art (both the world, and especially the character portraits) is stunning. This game was definately worth it in my opinion.

drizzt big boy has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from drizzt big boy)

this is my favorite game of all time. The art is wonderful. I especially liked jason manleys character portraits and game art. The game backgrounds were great. It is by far the best of the infinity engine games. the music is very good too. it was very engrossing. the icewind books are my favorite too. this game added the same kind of quality to dungeons and dragons as the books did. I cant say enough good things about it.

HiddenX has rated 8/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from HiddenX)

if you want hack'n'slash that is not too easy - play Icewind Dale.

kile has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from kile)

it's really ad&d. no more, no less. great game

Arax_TheBold has rated 7/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Arax_TheBold)

Had all the good combat elements of Bulders gate plus you could create an entire party of your own design. Would have scored higher but the game is to linear and there for your experience felt a little too secluded.

hack n' slash, very linear plot, limited spells, but a nice addition. try heart of winter, too, and download Trials of the Luremaster!

Oliver Ellis has rated 9/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Oliver Ellis)

RPGDon has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from RPGDon)

What a great game. Much better than Baldur's Gate. Smoother, better graphics, sound, and especially more focused and interesting. Giants weren't bad either. Shocking they couldn't get it when they did Heart of Winter. They figured it on thankfully when they published BG2 tho, thankfully. I hope IWD2 is as marginally good but I'm not looking forward to those 3rd edition garbage.

Goose has rated 3/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Goose)

Jakob has rated 7/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Jakob)

A very good game!!!But...its REALLY hard-.... buy it if you are an experienced player of BG,BG2SoA,ToB and so on...

Nicolaj Rostov has rated 6/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Nicolaj Rostov)

The best thing this game offers is the music; evething else is just a dungeon after a dungeon, without a reason, without a sense

Craigb23 has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Craigb23)

My favorite game to date... anyone who complains about it being too hard is too lazy... Great story, great challange - and extremely replayable. You can mix and match your party and stratagies each time through. Must have game for RPG fans.

I stopped playing this after 10 hours.Too boring and unbalanced.

Very fun battles. Good graphics. Great music and sounds.

Markus has rated 9/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Markus)

Surprise RPG hit. I love creating and playing an entire party of characters. Fantastic artwork and score. Only drawback is the linear storyline. But at least it is a good story.

Jacko has rated 5/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Jacko)

More of a hack and slash dungeon crawler than epic story! If that's your niche (hack and slash) you'll enjoy this game but the rest of us should stay with the Baldur's Gate series.

Val has rated 6/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Val)

Entertaining the first time through, but sadly, this game is a one-trick pony.

Zendor has rated 10/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Zendor)

Great hack and slash game.

Volourn has rated 7/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Volourn)

More nice work from BIS. A fine dungeon crawl with a better than average story on top of it. Thumbs up.

MK has rated 9/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from MK)

Excellent game for what it is: A combat heavy dungeon romp. The tactical combat is extremely well done. The dialog is top notch with variable NPC reactions. The backgrounds are beautiful and the music is excellent.

wsutton2 has rated 8/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from wsutton2)

Very good 6 man party dungeon crawl. Different game than BG, but still very good. Wish the game included kits.

LCD ANGEL has rated 1/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from LCD ANGEL)

Shit for the masses

Zhen Dil Oloth has rated 8/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Zhen Dil Oloth)

Very good dungeon crawl. The music is great. I found the story intriguing although the focus of the game is mostly oriented towards combat.

LOBO has rated 8/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from LOBO)

IWD consists 99% of battles in Baldurs Gate style, but much more balanced and intresting ones than in BG itself making it the ultimate strategy game (its more a strategy game with a story and RPG character developement than an real RPG)for RPG'ers. At least for me.Cant wait to play IWD 2!

Scar has rated 9/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Scar)

Not as story light as some here make it out to be. Highly linear, but linear is not necessarily bad. Very, very fun.

silly plot! all spelunking / battling monsters. For my money, I'd rather play a 1st person shooter for that kind of play

rock solid

Andrew has rated 9/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Andrew)

Great game with very good scenario and excellent music.( One time in your life , write this music)

Nilwarp has rated 7/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Nilwarp)

A very good RPG in an awesome 2D heroic fantasy world. Really close to BG 2 in many aspects, it is however very linear and clearly shorter. Good party fights as you can start the game immediately with 6 characters.

A very nice h&s d&d game based on BG style.

Coffin Joe has rated 8/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from Coffin Joe)

Hard to believe that IWD2 gets a higher rating here. Oh well. Hack & Slash all the way, and linear as hell, but it's a lot of fun. Some of my most memorable quests are from this game like the Severed Hand and Dorn's Deep. I didn't find the story to be half bad either. The music is also very well done. Nice and atmospheric. The music while in Kuldahar seems to stick with me.

ion has rated 8/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from ion)

Not the best AD&D game ever made but still it ok. The music is FANTASTIC though.

baldur's gate lite... a fun combat orientated rpg - suffers a bit from undead overload though

Excellent rpg, well worth the money and time to play it.

deadraque has rated 7/10 points (Click here to see more Reviews from deadraque)

Very good... But after playing NWN it looks more like a NWN mod then a game. I absolutly loved Icewind dale untill NWN came out. It still is amazing but after finishing it 3 times i didn't see 1 single difference with whatever character you take. So that means everyone is doing the same freaking linear story...

Great dungeon crawler. IWD consists countless battles in Baldurs Gate style. It's more a strategy game with RPG elements as an epic RPG with some fights.
