MMORPGDot Is Hiring!
Moriendor, 2005-01-10

MMORPGDot -part of the RPGDot network and hosted by UK-based Jolt since spring 2004- is one of the leading MMORPG news sites on the net. It may sound funny but our popularity has actually "hurt" us recently as we lost one Editor-In-Chief to the Vault Network, the next one to his family and RL job ;) and yet another one to the highly acclaimed games division of Slashdot. That's why we are now looking for new RELIABLE staff members to help us add compelling content for our readers of the site.
You have an obsession for MMORPGs? You can't help but apply for every single MMORPG beta test? You'd like to share your MMORPG experiences with a larger audience?
Read on... we may just be looking for YOU!

Please be aware that all positions listed below are unpaid positions. No one at RPGDot is getting paid for what they do. You will be a volunteer like the rest of the staff - without exception.
Also, please note that you can apply for several positions at a time if you feel like you qualify for them. For example, you might be interested in both the News Editor and Content Editor position for indie MMORPGs. No problem! Just tell us when you send your mail.

1) Editor-In-Chief

Description: The Editor-In-Chief at MMORPGDot coordinates all the efforts of the existing staff. He proofreads, edits and approves the articles of the content editors, keeps an eye on the news page and edits newsbits when there are obvious mistakes and responds to all inquiries, critiques and other feedback that is directed towards MMORPGDot via comments at the site or via e-mail.
The Editor-In-Chief would ideally not just be pulling the strings in the background but take an active role by contributing content himself. He has to always have an idea of who is working on what feature and he would check with his staff about progress on articles and arrange a schedule for the release of features.
Maintaining contacts with developers and publishers of MMORPGs would be much appreciated as well, or at least supervision of the existing staff's contacts.
Please be aware that we aren't looking for a "slave driver" but someone who is able to maintain an active and friendly communication with his teammates and positively encourage them in what they do.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as an editor at a games site is a MUST
  • Excellent knowledge of the MMORPG "scene"
  • Strong communication skills
  • Good organization skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good computer & HTML skills
  • Team player
  • Able to dedicate at least 1 hour to the site daily
  • Reliability!

Plusses:

  • Well established contacts within the industry

If you are interested in the Editor-In-Chief position, please send us an e-mail and include links/references to your previous work. Thank you!

2) Content Editor: Mainstream MMORPGs

Description: The "Content Editor: Mainstream MMORPGs" covers well-known or well-established MMORPGs in all stages of development and also post-release. He is responsible for delivering regular alpha/beta reports, previews, reviews and update reports.
The ideal candidate would either have active subscriptions to multiple MMORPGs or take care of getting (a) (temporary) review account(s).
It is not required to cover multiple MMORPGs though. Even if you are "only" into -say- World of Warcraft but are a passionate player and feel like you would be able to deliver regular quality features then that's fine, too :) .

Requirements:

  • Excellent knowledge of the MMORPG "scene"
  • Strong communication skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail

The ideal candidate would either have active subscriptions to multiple indie/free MMORPGs or take care of getting (a) (temporary) review account(s).
It is not required to cover multiple MMORPGs though. Even if you are "only" into -say- Project Entropia but are a passionate player and feel like you would be able to deliver regular quality features then that's fine, too :) .
