Another article is up at eToychest, this time a review of Deus Ex: Invisible War. The score is a meagre 2.5/5 and here's one of the reasons why:
The gameplay in Invisible War isn't terribly different from any other FPS on the market. The control scheme is the standard WASD configuration, with the addition of V, B and N being used to open the inventory, biomods and notebook screens, respectively. As for the actual gameplay: imagine everything you really loved about Deus Ex. Now imagine playing the same game, but with all of those things removed, and you have Invisible War. The RPG elements, which are what made the first game so popular, are completely gone. In their place is a ridiculous new biomod system, which forces you to choose one of three biomods, in six different tiers. Want to be able to hack computers? Alright, but then you can't use a cloaking device. Want to be able to silence your footsteps? Go right ahead, but then you won't be able to speed up the game's infuriatingly slow running speed. All six tiers feature similar, unenviable, choices.
