HomeLan Fed have interviewed Sony Online producer Robert Pfister to find out more about the EverQuest expansion, Lost Dungeons of Norrath. This is one of the exchanges: HomeLAN - The gameplay in Lost Dungeons emphasizes group activities this time round? How hard was it to make quests that benefited groups rather than individual members?
Robert Pfister - Part of the LDoN experience returns the player back to the glory days of the pen-and-paper dungeon crawl. A portion of the expansion is engineered for the 6-player dungeon crawl experience, but players who like to raid can do that as well in LDoN. We are including some raid content as well.
Building content for a known group is a lot of fun. With LDoN, the designers could build encounters knowing a lot about who would be using that content, and tailor it more for their level. Plus in LDoN we are rewarding the player for their participation in the group during each session. Each member of the group will credit towards a variety of rewards each time they play. They will also find rewards along the way. |
