Despite the introduction of computer games and so many other sources of possible entertainment, role playing games continue to maintain a sizable fan base. The best computer-based role-playing games are praised for their open-endedness and gripping stories, but even they are hard pressed to recreate the sense of adventure, excitement, and memories that can be formed through "paper and pencil" role-playing with one's friends.
