We thank all those who entered their votes and helped us in making it possible to select the best games of 2004.
Best Graphics in an MMORPG Graphics, some need the best looking game out there and some couldn't care less. But this is not about how good the game is, this is about how great it looks and how stunning it is at times.
The winner: World of Warcraft In a world where Doom 3 and Half Life 2 generate a fever pitch of interest for their technical prowess alone, World of Warcraft is a triumph of art design over polygon count. While the models are simple, the shaders minimal and the bump-mapping is non-existent, Blizzard's artists have created a colourful, stylised world with character and charm, all with an consistent artistic vision that ties it together. From the snowy peaks surrounding Ironforge to the depressing Barrens, World of Warcraft varied, imaginative and a work of art.

Runner Up: Everquest 2 Sony Online took the opposite approach to World of Warcraft with EverQuest II, creating a cutting-edge engine that uses the latest technology to bring a level of realism never before seen in a MMO - and arguably any game at all. With superbly detailed models and lush scenery, EverQuest II is challenging for all but the most powerful hardware but clearly deserves its position for pushing the boundaries of graphics technology in games.

Second Runner Up: City of Heroes Even if City of Heroes does not play at the same graphic level than Everquest 2, it caught it up with by the plethora of different heroes costumes allowing a large personalization and also by the variety and the quality of the visual effects of the mypowers.
