You know, I see Throne of Darkness on the shelf of my local retailer almost every day now. Sometimes I get closer, touch it and wonder if I should buy it. But then again, I say to myself: No. Had enough of Diabloesque games lately. Or would it be nice in my collection. Ponder ponder.

And then I read articles like the review at The Entertainment Depot, which gives the game a rating of "fair", with only 6.5 for gameplay. So it might be for you, but I still haven't had the guts to buy it :-). Here's their conclusion:

While Throne of Darkness offers plenty to do, there is still plenty I don’t want to go through. After a while it just feels incredibly repetitious and a bit annoying as you watch your units get slaughtered time and time again after being forced to move into situations where your crew finds itself vastly outnumbered. The game’s motif carries it only so far, and unfortunately, there isn’t much else there to back up the gameplay. If you are a fan of Diablo, you will be in nirvana and should add a few points to the overall score; if not, well, it’s an iffy call. It’s best to try the demo and see if the differences and pace is your style; personally, I found that it just wasn’t my cup of tea...
