Another playing session for A Tale in the Desert has been announced. Here is what was dropped in my mailbox:
The next play session will be:

    Monday, 11/05/2001 7:00PM EST until 10:00PM
UK Testers: London time is 5 hours ahead of EST.

After several sessions of only an occasional new law passing, last week's session had six. Here is the status of each:
    • Transfer of Property Act: Implemented

    • Public Building Act: Implemented

    • Guild Applications Act: Planned for Monday's Session

    • Guild Notice Board Act: Planned for Monday's Session

    • Increased Petition Size: Planned for Monday's Session

    • Guild Project Management Act: Vetoed, violates game physics

Again, lots of new content has been added for this next session, including:
    • An in-game bug report system, which can be used to immediately notify eGenesis staff of any play-related bug.

    • A complex new technology, skill & building type has been added. (Surprise!)

    • Buildings can now be transferred from a player or guild, to another player.

    • Passwords can now be changed by typing /password secretword secretword.

    • Succeeding at the Test of Takeskot will now increase your endurance, and after seven increases, award a character advancement.

    • The Law Library has been improved to give an up-to-the-minute status report on laws, similar to what is shown above.

    • Unwanted petitions can now be discarded.
    • Mines can no longer be "stacked" close together. (Added last session, but see below).

In the last session, a petition was being passed around by Pharaoh to authorize a vote on how to handle ownership of two disputed sections of ground with rare Tin and Aluminum deposits. Because the game had no underground terrain allocator when the mines were built, they and other mines were allowed to be placed closer together than they should have. I've decided to use the built-in voting system to decide the fairest way to remedy this. Voting on the "Mine Ownership Law" is as follows:
    • "Yes" - means that the right to build in the disputed area is given to Serius, who discovered the rare minerals. He may tear down the overlapping mines and do with the others as he sees fit.

    • "No" - means that the priests at the Great University of Worship will pray for the gods to send a gentle earthquake throughout the land, shifting the locations of Tin and Aluminum deposits.

So, if you want Serius to have control of the deposits, vote yes. If you'd rather have the game set so that all players have a chance to discover the deposits, vote no. Incidentally, the mineral deposits in question are not the only tin and aluminum deposits in the game - just the only ones yet discovered. Please vote one this law *if* you understand both sides of the argument. This will come to a vote during Monday's session.
