Project Entropia Alert has conducted an interview with Patric Sundstrom. They talk about the game and some technical matters, like this one:
Buddahchrist: Patric, the statement of having a million players play at one time seems quite ambitious, do you think you have the funding and technology to pull it off?
Patric: Why settle for crumbs when you can have the whole cake:)
This was one of the main goals when the development of Project Entropia began, to have all the players in the same world with a capacity of a million players on-line simultaneously.
We don't expect a million players to log into Project Entropia on day 1; it's a long-term goal. We plan to ensure that our server park is continuously adjusted to accommodate the number of people living on Calypso. By adjustment I mean that we plan to always have an over capacity so that nobody is subjected to overloaded servers.
From a purely economic and technological standpoint we don't foresee any problems. Our server solution is completely scalable and adjusted for this purpose. Of course, we can't control the performance of the Internet as a whole. | Source: RPGVault |
